Now You Can 'Like' Stuff on Twitter

Everyone knew this was going to happen sooner or later, and sure enough it has. Jesse Stay, a programmer has developed a browser extension that allows you to ‘Like’ tweets. Apart from the regular buttons like ‘Retweet’ and ‘Reply To’, this plugin also adds a new ‘Like’ button to tweets that show up in your stream. This is done by using Facebook’s iframe code, and can be used on Chrome, Internet Explorer or Firefox (no Safari?!). All you have to do is install the plugin, and you can start ‘Liking’ your favourite tweets right away. But I have to admit that the button looks a little out of place on Twitter.

The art of 'Liking' extended

Although you can already ‘Retweet’ stuff and route it to Facebook automatically everything that you ‘Like’ will also get posted on your Facebook profile. Apparently the developer plans to take this a step further by working on a “post to Facebook” checkbox below Twitter status update box as well as a Twitter and Facebook profile pic synchronization tool.

I already know plenty of people who randomly 'Like' almost everything on Facebook just because they can, and now this has spread to Twitter as well. It’s an epidemic of sorts! Of course, all this only means more traffic for everyone taking part in this.

For all those who want to stay away from the hate (or even the curious), download the plugin here
