We reported yesterday that Nokia was planning something big to showcase at an event in New Delhi, as they had sent out media invites with a teaser image from The Dark Knight Rises movie. This could mean only one thing - Nokia unveiling a Dark Knight edition of the Lumia 900 handset in India. What confirms these rumours is that Nokia have put up a dedicated page on their site showcasing this handset and what one can expect to find in it.
Coming real soon
Those lucky enough to purchase this limited edition Lumia 900 handset will get exclusive content from The Dark Knight Rises movie. As for the looks of the smartphone, it mostly adopts the same styling as compared to other Lumia 900 handsets, but what makes this handset exclusive is that the Limited Edition matte black Nokia Lumia 900 comes with a striking laser engraved Batman symbol on the shell. There are various features that are exclusive to this handset and the buyer of this smartphone will receive an exclusive Dark Knight Rises app, a Showtime Finder, along with much more content from the franchise.
Building up on the hype that surrounds this movie, there is also a location-based, The Dark Knight Rises challenge, powered by Foursquare, which is exclusive to Nokia. Users have the option of building a profile, choosing to fight for Bane or Batman, and start checking-in to claim locations for their side. They can then continue the fight as they attack their enemy’s territories or defend their own, either by themselves or in groups. Users can also receive updates with a dedicated Live Tile on their Nokia Lumia 900 homescreen.
Nokia have also added information on the cast of the Batman movie on the handset. Consumers of the limited edition The Dark Knight Rises Lumia 900 can also customize their handset with the movie’s wallpaper and ringtones. Apart from these features, Nokia has also added a trailer of the movie and a Nokia-exclusive behind the scenes mini-movie that won't be available anywhere else.
As part of the promotion for themselves and the movie, Nokia has released a teaser of an interactive Gotham City 3D map. The video shows an overview of Gotham City and features landmarks, such as the Wayne Tower. There is no word yet on when the interactive 3D map of Gotham City will be available, but the trailer does state that it is coming soon. With The Dark Knight Rises set to hit cinemas by the end of this month, there is a huge chance that we could see it launch very soon.
