Nokia 8 spotted on Geekbench running Android Oreo; could receive update soon

HMD recently announced the Nokia 8 globally and is expected to hit markets, including India, very soon. To make things sweeter, a report by GizBot states that the **Nokia 8** could receive an update to **Android Oreo** very soon after it was spotted on benchmarking site Geekbench. [caption id=“attachment_3942755” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Image Credit: HMD Global, Nokia[/caption] Geekbench readings showed a variant of the phone running the latest version of Android and though this is not an official confirmation of the update, it could be a notable pointer. While Nokia **had confirmed** the Android O update back in June for their lower priced offerings — the Nokia 3, 5 and 6, it is likely that it would push out an update for its current flagship as well. The Nokia 8, which was launched at a price of 599 Euros (approximately Rs 45,000) in August, features a camera lens built by Carl Zeiss, which renewed its partnership with Nokia. The phone comes with three cameras in total, the rear being a dual camera setup. All three use 13 MP sensors with f/2.0 lenses. The rear camera also features an RGB sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS) paired with a monochrome sensor without OIS. The front and rear cameras feature PDAF and the rear camera even features an IR range finder. The camera software also features what Nokia calls the ‘Bothie’ camera which allows both the front and rear camera systems to work together. A bothie video will feature a combined video feed involving the front and rear camera. This video can also be streamed. The Nokia 8 sports a 5.3-inch 2K, polarized display covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and employs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor along with 4 GB of RAM. The phone comes with 64 GB of internal storage, which is expandable to 256 GB via a microSD card, and it runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. The device has a 3,090 mAh battery and 4G dual-SIM support with one slot acting as a hybrid SIM slot. The Nokia 8 comes in four colour variants — matte silver, polished blue, matte blue and polished copper.
