The Nintendo 3DS handheld gaming console has released in the UK and US, and early buyers are reporting a rather serious issue with it – the ‘Black Screen of Death’, a frequently occurring error that forces them to do a hard reset.
BSoD... now where have I heard that before?
Users around the internet have been discussing the issue, like on the NeoGAF forums, and have even thought of countermeasures like reformatting their SD Cards to the FAT32 file system. Some are taking the safer route though, by returning their consoles for replacements.
The issue has been spotted on most of the launch titles so far – including Pilotwings, Ghost Recon and Super Street Fighter IV 3D. Hopefully this issue can be fixed and doesn’t spiral out of control, because we certainly don’t want another RRoD on our hands.
