Konami has released a new trailer for its upcoming game—Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. The game is set to come out some time this winter, according to the trailer. The game is set to pick up where the previous game left off with an aged Dracula. Check it out:
The trailer shows us the story setup, where the character Zobek visits Dracula as the latter skulks around in his castle, depressed about his immortality. Zobek offers the gift of mortality to Dracula in return for some help. After this, the trailer gives us a look at some of the environments and enemies we'll get to see in the game.
The game will have some neat new features, such as the lack of loading screens. Game Director at MercurySteam Enric Alvarez has stated that players will be able to explore environments in the game without being interrupted by loading screens. "We wanted the game's world to grow organically and not level to level. In Lords of Shadow 2 you'll be able to walk freely all over the game's universe without loading times and with a very organic and real feeling," he said.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is shaping up to be rather interesting
While the first game detailed the origin of Dracula and his legendary connection with the Belmont family, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 acts as a shocking finale to the Lords of Shadow saga, as Dracula returns once again, weakened and yearning for release from his immortal bonds. Facing a new and powerful threat, the vampire lord must amass his old powers – and his castle is central to regaining his abilities.
Just yesterday, we learned that the first Lords of Shadow game is getting a PC version. The game is listed on digital distribution service Steam, and its release date is August 27. However, as of now, pre-orders for the game have not started. The PC version of the game is dubbed Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Ultimate Edition, and includes two DLCs along with the main game—Reverie and Resurrection.
The game, originally released for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 back in 2010, is a complete re-imagining of the Castlevania franchise. The game acts as a prequel to the main franchise, which has its roots in the NES era. It revolves around Gabriel Belmont, a member of the brotherhood of Light. He has to track down the mysterious Lords of Shadow in order to unite the pieces of a relic called the God Mask, which can purify the world and has the power to bring the dead back to life.
