Warner Bros has released a new trailer for its upcoming game – Batman: Arkham Origins. The trailer shows us a younger Batman as he takes on the criminal underbelly of Gotham City. There are plenty of cameos of villains from the Batman mythos, but the most prominent one is that of Deathstroke, who is set to be the main antagonist of the game. Check out the trailer:
The Batman in this game is going to be younger than the one in previous Arkham games. As the trailer shows, he's much more agile and nimble this time around, but also much more reckless. The trailer shows a fight between the Dark Knight and Deathstroke on top of some shipping containers. We also get to see other villains, including people who look like Deadshot and the Black Mask.
It was recently revealed that fan-favourite Kevin Conroy will be reprising his role as the Batman. This comes as a pleasant surprise, especially because earlier, the voice actor was going to be a different one. Kevin Conroy has been the definitive voice of Batman ever since Batman: The Animated Series made its TV debut in the early 90s.
Batman version 0.9
Details about the game were revealed back in April. Since it will feature a younger Batman, he won’t be as adept at what he does as the Batman from the previous Batman: Arkham games. Senior Producer Ben Mattes tells GameMasters UK, "The Batman of Arkham City is Batman 5.0. He will punch out a guy without looking at him knowing exactly how many teeth he’s just fractured just from the feeling from his knuckles. Our Batman is version 0.9."
The boss fights will be much more varied this time. Every boss is set to be a new experience altogether. This was the major complaint that Batman: Arkham Asylum received and which was somewhat remedied in the sequel Arkham City. The boss fights in Arkham Origins are said to be modelled after the Freeze boss fight from Arkham City, which is widely regarded as the best boss fight in the game.
