Motorola’s Xoom was never really offered anything special other than pure stock Honeycomb. For some, this was the ideal tablet since it didn’t have any excess fluff bogging it down and is also the reason why many prefer the Nexus S over the Galaxy S. Fact of the matter is that the Xoom is a bare bones tablet out-of-the-box leaving it up to the user to customize it the way they wanted to. Now, an anonymous tipster had gotten us proof of a special Xoom 'Family Edition' soon to hit retail shelves. This version comes bundled with edutainment apps like Kid Mode from Zoodles. This is the very same app that comes bundled with the HTC Flyer as well.
The Xoom, now kid friendly
Now, the ‘Kid Mode’ app itself is a free download but Motorola are bundling $40 worth of apps for kids from Zoodles, all of which can be accessed through the Kid Mode app. Apps could range from children’s story books to games to videos. This particular Xoom codenamed MZ505 should be announced in the US soon, whether or not it will make it to India is yet unknown. Currently, the Xoom is enjoying the spot of being the cheapest Honeycomb 3G tablet with the most amount of built-in memory (32GB) in India. Adding more variations to the tablet line-up could only help them drive up sales.
