Moto X Style receiving Android Nougat 7.0 update; brings split-screen feature and more

Moto X Style users in India are finally being rolled out Android 7.0 Nougat after the device last received it's Android 6.0 update back in November 2015. The long overdue update for the handset will bring a host of new features as well as stability optimisations and security patches that come with the latest Android version.

Based on a report by The Android Soul, the Android 7.0 Nougat update is being rolled out to Moto X Style users in India. The Moto India website, however, only confirms that the device will receive a Nougat 7.0 update. The Moto X Style was launched in India back in October 2015 and was the flagship offering by Motorola at the time.

Apart from bringing in new security patches to the phone, Moto X Style users will receive a number of features introduced with Android 7.0. This includes a doze mode which would boost battery life while the device is idle, a revamped notification shade and a Quick Settings menu. The Nougat update will also introduce Google Assistant to the Moto X Style. The device which houses a massive 5.7-inch qHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) display will also benefit from the native split-screen functionality that Nougat adds.

The phone is powered by a 1.8 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor, which is supported with 3 GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the phone is available in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB storage variants, all of which support external storage expansion via microSD card. The camera on the X Style is 21-megapixel f/2.0 aperture sensor which is coupled with a dual CCT flash. The phone sports a 5-megapixel front camera with a wide-angle lens. The primary camera can record videos at 4K resolution.
