Last June a fanmade Mortal Kombat video rocked the internet. MK fans were practically salivating at this live action video that was gritty and dark, unlike previous MK movies that leaned more towards a comical side. Rumors began flying around that this was a pitch made for a new Mortal Kombat movie; a reboot if you will. There were some who even thought this was a viral video designed by Midway themselves to promote their upcoming MK game.
But now, thanks to Bloody Disgusting, the truth has emerged. While it’s sad that no movie would be made based on this most badass video, fans can take solace in the fact that the video’s creator, Kevin Tancharoen has been given the budget and the go ahead by Warner to make a 10-part webisode using his gritty style employed in the promo.
Just like the promo, Michael Jai White (Black Dynamite himself) will reprise his role of Jax and will be joined in by "Shao Kahn, Shang Tsung, Liu Kang, Sub Zero, Durak, Kabal, Kitana, Mileena and Scorpion." Details regarding plot and release date are non-existent, but hey, now at least you know it exists.
