Monitors to Get Costlier in India: LG

Now, this comes as a spoiler. If you were in plans of buying a swanky new LG monitor for yourself, anytime soon you might want to postpone your plans for a while now.

Life's got difficult

Life's STILL good?

LG Electronics India, a popular brand in the country in the consumer electronics space has announced price hike in its monitor offerings. This decision isn’t one in a vacuum. Over the months, the prices of the inputs have been seeing a steady rise. Owing to this, almost in a chain reaction the prices of the LCD and LED panels have also seen a sharp rise in the international markets, forcing this present day decision of a price hike in the Indian market.

Starting from May 1st, 2011, monitors ranging from 15.6 to 23 inches, and this includes LCD, LED, and monitor TV will see the impact of the price hike. Depending on the model, the price hike can be anywhere between 3 to 5 per cent. Dr. Y V Verma, COO, LGEIL added that all this while the company had been absorbing the sharp rise in the prices of the LCD, LED panels in the international market, which account for almost 70per cent of the finish set’s costs. Seeing the trend in no mood to budge or move otherwise, Dr. Verma sees this price hike as the only logical option available.

The price hike is expected be around till September 2011, at least.
