Today is one depressing day. First we get word of Bizarre Creations’ closure and now it seems Mirror’s Edge 2 has been shelved as well. EA was apparently not too happy with the game’s prototype and considering its prequel didn’t sell too well, it was a no brainer that the game got scrapped.
In 2008, EA experimented with two new IPs, Mirror’s Edge and Dead Space. While Dead Space was met with favorable reviews, sales were relatively poor. Mirror’s Edge on the other hand was met with poor sales and mixed reviews. However it was highly appreciated by a handful of people who immediately fell in love with the game’s unique mechanics.
Dead Space came back with a bigger and more badass sequel that eventually saved this IP from tanking. Unfortunately the team working on Mirror’s Edge 2 couldn’t reach that far as EA has now canceled the game and allocated them to another project, which in all probability seems like Battlefield 3.
