Ever heard the phrase, “All smoke, but no fire?” Well, that’s what the case is with the rumours regarding Micromax A120 Canvas HD Pro. Today we saw the tech press go all out with rumours and “leaks” about a new Micromax phone called the A120 Canvas HD Pro. The highly circulated rumours said the phablet would sport a 5.5-inch full HD display and will be powered by a Cortex A7 quad-core CPU, no less, along with a whopping 2GB of RAM.
As if this much wasn’t enough, the phone was also said to have a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 3.2 megapixel front-facing shooter. The icing on this cake was the price – not happy with just putting out a list of "leaked" specifications, it was also reported that this phone would cost about Rs 20,000, making it 50 percent cheaper than any similarly spec’d smartphone.
No, this is not the A120 Canvas HD Pro. It's the very real Canvas HD
Similar rumours had surfaced on March 22 about the same phone; however, Micromax confirmed to us at the time that this phone was not for real. So, when we saw Google News going crazy with similar stories today, we did a double take. Just to be sure, we contacted Micromax, who confirmed once again that the rumours about the Canvas HD Pro were patently false. The company also claimed that it doesn’t have any such phone in the works.
We’re sorry to douse the fire of your geeky excitement with cold, nasty truth potion, but that’s that. There isn’t going to be any Rs 20,000, full-HD, quad-core phone with a whopping 2GB of RAM hitting the stores anytime soon.
Micromax does, however, have something up its sleeve, but we can’t fully confirm anything right now. But the moment we get any concrete details about it, we’ll be the first to let you know. Our advice is to take all such unsubstantiated rumours with fistfuls of salt.
