Apple is known for it's stiff upper lip secrecy around its products but DigiTimes reports that because the Macbook Air isn't doing too well despite the price fall, it's coming out with an 11.6 inch version, essentially going netbook.
The Macbook Air originally seemed like a cool idea but became a product that executives and VIPs would own as status symbols. Despite the price drop from $1800 to $1500, the product did not increase in sales. DigiTimes reports that Apple soon will launch a new Air model with an 11.6-inch display and an Intel Core i-series low voltage CPU.
Reducing the display from the original 13.3 inch to 11.6 potentially means Apple has changed its views on netbooks? It has had no qualms in expressing disdain for the Windows based mini-notebooks and especially the devices below $500, calling them pieces of junk.
