Location-based Video Chat App, Karizma, Coming Soon

Does this sound familiar? A $41 million app which didn't really fly with flying "colours". Okay it was "Color", the location based photo sharing app that was overly complicated for any good use it might have. Karizma (http://www.karizma.com/) is an app that works on the assumption that you want to chat with people who are near you geographically. You can call people who are close to you, not just your contacts.

Once users are on Karizma, they can connect to other Karizma users in their proximity based on their age, friends in common, language and interests, and whether they're on 3G or Wifi. The app can also be used for calling local businesses without having to look up their phone
number, for instance if you want to make a restaurant reservation or to find out if they're busy.

Karizma plans on monetizing with subscriptions, offering free calls to a certain number of nearby users. They also plan on using iAd and AdMob for freemium versions. Karizma was presented at TechCrunch's Disrupt and the app should be out for iOS and Android soon
