The iPhone 4S has not reached our shores yet, but this has not stopped rumour mills churning out information, all talking of what we could possibly be a part of - the next generation iPhone or iPad. LG manufactures Retina Displays for Apple’s iPhones and according to a report by IDG; an ‘industry insider’ has informed Korea Times that Apple is presently working on a larger screen for the next iPhone, as well as a smaller display for iPads to be manufactured by LG.
The iPhone 5 rumours have started in full swing
The same source has stated that LG and Apple are in works to set up a new deal regarding displays of future iOS devices. Apple plans to increase the size of their display by half an inch, making it 4-inches, as well as is in talks to produce a 7.35-inch tablet. The source says, “Next year's iPhone will feature a 4-inch display by LG Display, half an inch larger than the 3.5-inch display and retina display resolution will remain unchanged because LCD is currently being regarded as the right solution to offer value with better cost-cuts.”
In a related report by TiPb, Apple had planned to release a fully redesigned iPhone instead of the iPhone 4S, but the plans were scrapped months before the unveiling of the iPhone 4S. The reason that the redesigned iPhone was cancelled was because apparently Steve Jobs was unhappy with the screen as it ‘fragmented’ iPhones. The source had informed Business Insider that the redesigned iPhone was supposed to have an aluminum back like the iPad, as well as be available in nano-chromatic colours and would feature a wide capacitive home button. For all of those who are disappointed that the present iPhone did not get a new design, hopefully, the next generation would have a completely new design.
