LG preparing to rival the Galaxy S III with the LS970 Eclipse

The Samsung Galaxy S III has not even been commercially available yet, but apart from already reaching a whopping 9 million preorders, it appears that their rivals are already preparing smartphones that are aimed to dethrone the yet to be launched Android king. From the looks of it, it appears that LG is preparing an onslaught of handsets to rival the Galaxy S III. Yesterday it was reported that the brand was preparing the Optimus LTE2 that was to be launched internationally and moving away from the plastic body of the Galaxy S III, this handset will feature a body made up of glass and metal. If news about this handset wasn’t enough, a report by Brief Mobile claims that LG is preparing another smartphone codenamed the LS970 Eclipse.

As per a report, the author states, “The LG Eclipse 4G LTE is rumored to have a 2100 mAh battery, 1.5GHz Krait S4 processor, 4.67-inch HD display, 16GB of ROM, and 2GB of RAM. Many have referred to the phone as the next “superphone,” and the more we learn about it, the more we are likened to say the same.”

Earlier, on this handset had popped up in a YouTube video as well, but there was not much to appease us visually, except for the back of the handset and a list of its specifications. Like the report by Brief Mobile, the video, too had detailed the same specifications.  In a previous report, the website claims, “The device will contain the highly coveted APQ8064 chipset. This is a 28nm 1.5 GHz Qualcomm quad-core Krait processor (Snapdragon S4 series) with an equally exciting Adreno 320 GPU. This is by far the best CPU that has been announced to date and the LG Eclipse will have it.”

There is no word yet on when this superphone will be launched worldwide, but one can expect a launch date to be just around the corner considering that the leaks have already begun. As of now, it seems that this handset is destined for Sprint, but hopefully the brand will release a global version of the handset as well.
