Kinect sells 2.5 million in 25 days

Microsoft have announced that the Kinect Motion Sensor add-on for the XBOX 360, with the help of strong demand over the Black Friday Weekend, has sold over a total of 2.5 million units worldwide since its launch a mere 25 days ago.

That’s more than twice as fast as the Playstation Movie, which only sold 1 million in its first month, and is even twice as fast as Apple’s iPad which sold 2 million units in its first two months. While the picture is somewhat skewed by the biggest shopping weekend of the year, Black Friday (which neither of the aforementioned products released just before), that’s still a remarkable sales figure and Microsoft are not done yet. They predict a total of 5 million units sold in the holiday season, though whether they will reach that mark is yet to be seen.
