After offering more than 500 Live TV Channels to JioTV earlier this month. Reliance Jio has now brought its JioCinema app to the web. Jio subscribers who have been using the service on their mobile phones and tablets, will now be able to view their favourite movies and TV shows on a bigger display using their laptops or desktops.
The move now brings JioCinema closer to offerings like Netflix and Amazon Prime. Reliance Jio only recently signed a multi-year original content deal with Roy Kapur Films. The deal allows Jio Infocomm to curate, commission, develop and produce original digital video content for Jio's streaming platform.
Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. current runs two separate media streaming platforms. JioTV is currently available to its subscribers to tune into live TV broadcasts while JioCinema lets subscribers stream and download movies and TV shows.
As a service, the inclusion of a web app, now completes the circle with JioCinema now available on mobile, tablet, Android TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Apple TV, Tizen Phones and now the desktop browser.
Users can simply head to JioCinema.com, login into their Jio account and start streaming over 1 lakh hours of HD content that includes Indian, regional and international titles across genres. Again, all of this is ad-free.
