iTunes 11 with better iCloud integration may be in the works

Most Apple rumours dished out these days seem be focusing on the brand's upcoming iPhone, and seem to have little, in comparison about the upcoming version of their iTunes. Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac has been in touch with people with relevant information on the next iTunes, and they have stated that the next major release of the iTunes applications for computers has begun to be internally seeded. The sources say that Apple have been hard at work on iTunes 11, prior to the release of iTunes 10.6 and with the next update, the brand is focusing on internal developments, rather than cosmetic.

As per the report, Mark Gurman states, “Apple is working on iTunes 11 as a version of iTunes that supports their upcoming iOS 6 release and future devices. Apple typically releases new versions of iTunes alongside major new OS’s and mobile devices. While iTunes 11 is built as an iOS 6 compatible-release, according to sources, iTunes 11 could very well be a release coming farther down the road, and Apple could very well release another iTunes 10.x point update as a simple iOS-6-compatiblity release. One source calls that the more likely situation.” The report states that the iTunes Store as well as the App Store would also be revamped by the second half of 2012.

The report goes on to state that the next major iTunes update will include further integration of iCloud and may also feature a dedicated iCloud panel in the computer application. The report states, “This panel is a centralized, always accessible spot for users to control iCloud related features while in iTunes. These features include iTunes Match, iTunes in the Cloud, iCloud iOS device backups and more.”

There is no word yet on when Apple will officially release their next major update to the masses. The last time Apple dished out a major release was back in September 2010, wherein they showcased iTunes 10. At the event titled Apple Special Music Event, Apple had also introduced to the world their iPod touch 4, iOS 4.1 gold master and the iOS-based Apple TV.
