ITG xpPhone 2 coming early next year, to feature Windows 8

ITG has decided to step back into the proliferating mobile market with the newer version of its xpPhone dubbed xpPhone 2. A lot has changed since ITG popped its head into the mobile terrain with its no-so-widely accepted handset. While the predecessor couldn’t appeal to the masses, the latest device is said to emerge with advanced Windows 7 and support for Windows 8 operating system in future, says Engadget.

Shedding oodles of weight, the considerably slimmer handset crafted by the Taiwan-based company measures 140mm x 73mm x 17.5mm which tips the scale at 40 grams. It ropes in a large 4.3-inch display probably attempting to bridge the gap between a tablet and smartphone just like the 5-incher Dell Streak.

Needless to say, this time around ITG wants to be noticed and doesn’t just rely only on the highly anticipated Windows 8 platform. It is likely to come with enhanced battery life along with a spec sheet that scribbles down 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, 2GB RAM and 112GB of SSD storage space. The ITG xpPhone 2 is slated to release in January 2012. So, one could expect the device to initially run on Windows 7 with the capability to be upgraded to Windows 8 later.
