We’ve heard some pretty crazy rumours before, but none as crazy as this one. A report is claiming Apple are going to remove the Home button from the next generation of iPhones and iPads. The devices will instead rely on a multi-touch gesture to bring up the home screen.
Boy Genius Report claims a source informed them of this development and that Apple employees are already testing devices with no home button. There is a tiny semblance of credibility added to this report, thanks to the beta version of iOS 4.3 using multi-touch to access the home screen. Other ‘information’ revealed was that Apple’s camera app Photo Booth will be making it onto the iPad along with the iLife suite.
Take this rumour with a grain of salt though, because it seems far-fetched to even those who reported it. Nevertheless, it’s a rather interesting if not strange development - if true.
