Apple’s new iPhone 5 is set to launch in the US on the 5th of September, this year with a worldwide release slated for October, if a Senior Executive at Swisscom, Apple’s partner in Switzerland is to be believed. Considering the number of rumors doing rounds, it’s actually hard to keep a track of all of them. From NFC, to a larger screen, to 8MP cameras manufactured by Sony – the rumor mill has gone into overdrive. However, the updated news about the iPhone’s release seems like reliable information, as Swisscom has been one of Apple’s partners for Switzerland in the past.
iPhone 5 to launch this September?
The anonymous Swisscom executive speaking to iPhoneitalia mentioned that the iPhone 5 would be launched worldwide on October 5. He also stated that he was 100 percent sure of the above, because Apple have already contacted the main mobile operators to agree on how to distribute the iPhone 5.
A US launch prior to a worldwide release does make sense, as in the past, Apple suffered from supply restraints for its iPad 2 tablets. However, in all of this, where is India placed? Like the iPhone 4, are we supposed to be disappointingly awaiting a next year launch? Or will Apple, take a shorter route, just like the way it did with the iPad2 and release it this year? It might be revealed in a month's time.
