Off late, Instagram has been aggressive with its feature updates. And there are quite a lot of speculations and rumours about upcoming features. Video-calling feature is the most recent Instagram update rumour. Along with this, another rumour hints at new features in Direct messaging section

However, these rumoured updates are only for iOS as of now.

According to, Instagram is rumoured to bring these new features to the Direct Messages section.

Firstly, in the Direct messages, on the upper right-hand corner, a star option would appear where you would be able to mark the chat as your favourite.

Direct would be divided into 'Inbox', 'Unread', and 'Starred'. You would have to long press the 'Starred' option. This would open a page where all your important chats will appear.

Second is the download data option in the settings menu. This will give you a chance to download all the photos that were shared on Instagram in a zip file. This appears as a separate page called “download your data” with an arrow pointing down. Here, the user can request to download the information.

Instagram is seeing a major overhaul in case of it messaging platform where it is trying to simplify its messaging features.

Apart from this, another finding shows that Instagram is coming up with a portrait mode feature.

In a report by the TechCrunch, an APK (Android Application Package) version of Instagram has found a portraiture mode in the Instagram Stories option. As of now, Instagram shows 'boomerang' and 'superzoom' among other options. This is expected to give portrait mode photographs with various effects such as blurred, bokeh, or other lighting effects.

It must be remembered that these are rumoured updates and are yet to be made available.
