The Google Nexus 7 is doing incredibly well in the market. Its success has been astounding, with the 16 GB version being sold out. Now, while the tablet may be awesome, it's just not enough for some to stay content without any trendy accessories. To cater to this market, ASUS a few weeks ago revealed a range of trendy covers for the Google Nexus 7 that were to be available in a variety of colours. But it seems that ASUS and Google have more in store for their flagship tablet - Nordic Hardware recently came across three slides that shed some light on a range of accessories for the Nexus 7.
ASUS Nexus 7 dock
The website has details of three slides that show accessories for the Nexus 7. The slides have a feature list, besides a tentative release date for each product. Products expected to be unveiled by ASUS are a travel cover, a premium cover and a Nexus dock.
The dock is expected to be launched by August 24, 2012 and will feature ports for a 3.5 mm audio jack and a microUSB connector. Apart from this, the slide claims that the dock is angled well so it can be comfortable for viewing photos or videos, browsing content or checking email. Apart from these features, the microUSB port can be used to charge the tablet as well. The dock, when launched, will set you back by $49.99.
ASUS Nexus 7 travel cover
The ASUS Travel Cover is designed using a non-slip matte texture that helps in protecting the tablet against bumps and scratches. The slim cover design also enables the tablet to fit properly in a bag. It will be available in six colours is expected to be priced at $19.99.
ASUS Nexus 7 Premium Cover
The ASUS Premium Cover is priced $20 higher than the Travel Cover and will sell for $39.99. The highlighted feature of this cover is that its exterior is made out of leather while the interior is made of a soft micro fiber cloth that will help in protecting the screen. Like the Travel Cover, this cover also features a snug fit around the tablet, allowing it to be easily carried in a bag.
If you are in the dark regarding what the Google Nexus 7 is about, here is an insight about what Google's flagship tablet features. The tablet comes equipped with a seven-inch IPS display that boasts a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core Tegra 3 chip. Google has added 1 GB of RAM, which should let the Nexus 7 match up with the best in the business. Google has touted it as a serious gaming device as the brand has added a 12-core NVIDIA GeForce GPU to the fray.
This tablet, manufactured by ASUS, is not just designed to take on Apple’s highly successful iPad, but will also pose a stiff threat to the Amazon Kindle Fire and Google aims to better vie with its pricing strategy. The Google Nexus 7 tablet is available in two storage capacities - 8 GB and 16 GB - and the brand has priced it extremely competitively at $199 and $249, respectively. This puts to rest countless rumours surrounding the pricing of the tablet, some of which had pointed out that the tablet would be in the sub-$200 price bracket.
