As the year kicked off, iBall was busy showing off its stylish and affordable phones, catering to low to mid range phone users. This doesn’t mean the popular peripheral maker was set to bid goodbye to tablets after entering the rat race somewhere around September last year. The company has now introduced the next Slide - the Slide i7218 - in its ‘Performance series’, which retains some of the best abilities of its predecessor, along with adding some newer attributes.
The iBall Slide i7218 shows off some improvements, like dual stereo speakers, for a superior viewing and listening experience. Talking about budget tablets, they rope in a mediocre camera or choose not to include any. The Slide i7218 also has a dual camera - 2 megapixel rear and a VGA front facing one. The iBall Slide also comes integrated with a USB port for direct access to pen drive data, data card and also peripherals like keyboard and mouse.
At 450 grams, the tablet has been integrated with a capacitive 7-inch touchscreen with 800 x 480 resolution. The device is fuelled by a 1Ghz ARM Cortex A8 and runs on Android 2.3. These features are similar to what we found on its predecessor. So, there's no improvement with the screen and processor. Click here for the complete review of the previous Slide tablet. The built-in 8GB memory can be extended up to 32GB. The new Slide maintains connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G support on dongle and also HDMI out port to connect to a TV or projector. The i7218 packs in a plethora of applications, such as Money Control, Facebook, Gmail, Skype, News and Weather, Android Market, Nimbuzz and more.
With not much enhancement to the newer version, iBall has decided to give it a decent price. While the previous version was launched for 13,500, the Slide i7218 is priced at 12,449 and has a Best Buy price of 11,999.
