iBall launches dual-SIM phablets Andi 5L, Andi 5Li for Rs 12,999

iBall has added a couple of phablets to its smartphone portfolio. The iBall Andi 5L and Andi 5Li both run on dual-core 1GHz Cortex A9-based processors of unknown make and have 5-inch displays. iBall has also included a free flip cover with both the handsets.

The Andi 5L and Andi 5Li are dual-SIM smartphones, much like most of the other smartphones of Indian make in this price range. The two phablets have almost the same specifications: both have 4GB of internal storage (of which only 2GB is is user accessible), 512MB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash at the back and a front-facing camera whose resolution is not mentioned.

Connectivity options include GPS with support for A-GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 32GB in size. The phones support dual-standby, so you don’t need to restart the phone to switch SIM cards.

The only difference between the two smartphones is in the OS they run, the battery and the fact that the Andi 5L has a stylus. The Andi 5L runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and has a 1800mAh battery, while the Andi 5Li comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and packs a 2000mAh battery.

Both the phones are priced at Rs 12,999, which makes us wonder if someone would go for the Andi 5L over its Jelly Bean cousin just because it has a stylus. iBall could easily have equipped the Andi 5L with Jelly Bean as both the phones have the same internals. Moreover, we found the price to be a bit high given the specifications, as a lot of Indian handsets in this price range, such as the Micromax Canvas HD, offer quad-core processors and 1GB of RAM.
