Details about Huawei's next smartphone have been leaked. The handset, dubbed the P6-U06, is being hailed as the thinnest smartphone in the world. According to GSMInsider, it has been approved by the Telecommunication Equipment Certification Centre MIIT in China, which means that the phone is getting very close to being officially unveiled.
The device measures 132.6 x 65.5 x 6.18 mm and weighs in at 120 g. Thanks to the 6.18 mm thickness, it will overtake Alcatel's One Touch Idol Ultra as the world's thinnest phone.
The Huawei P6-U06 seems to be gunning for the "thinnest smartphone in the world" championship
The handset will sport a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The muscle in the phone is powered by a quad-core processor that is clocked at 1.5GHz. It is also equipped with 2GB of RAM, so that will make multitasking painless. For photography, it is equipped with an 8 megapixel camera and a secondary 2 megapixel front facing camera. It supports GSM and WCDMA, but doesn't seem to have an LTE chip.
Other features include the standard micro USB slot, 3.5 mm audio jack and GPS support.
The handset will be running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Out of the box and will be available in black, white and pink colours.
Since the handset has only been certified in China so far, it is very likely that the rest of the world may never see it. Perhaps an official announcement from Huawei will tell if we will be able to buy this beast of a phone in our country.
