While the recently-launched Samsung Galaxy S4 has garnered praise for its hardware and software, the one area that many weren’t pleased with was the plastic construction.
Even Mike Woodwork, President of HTC’s North America division, could help but take a pot shot. "We were pleased to see no innovation in the design itself," he said, comparing the new Samsung smartphone to the HTC One. And fans of the One in India can get their hands on the stunningly-designed new HTC flagship.

An online retailer has put the HTC One up for sale for a price of Rs 49,990 with a shipping time of 30 days. However, it must be noted that an official price for the device has not been announced. We expect it to be priced at Rs 45,000 and upwards. Officially, the HTC One, as we have reported previously, will be available in India from April onwards. Only the silver variant of the phone is up for sale and this one is the 32GB version of the One. There is a 64GB version of the phone as well.
Elsewhere, reports say that the new HTC flagship will be delayed due to a problem with securing shipments for the Ultrapixel camera module. In an interview with Wall Street Journal, one HTC executive said suppliers no longer see HTC as a top-tier components customer: "The company has a problem managing its component suppliers as it has changed its order forecasts drastically and frequently following last year's unexpected slump in shipments. HTC has had difficulty in securing adequate camera components as it is no longer a tier-one customer." If that is indeed the case, then we can expect a delay in the shipment of the handset to India as well. So it would be wise to hold off a bit longer before making the purchase.
We spent some time with the handset during its brief appearance in front of HTC fans and came away impressed by the display and the performance of the handset. But what pleased us the most was the One's design. The entire chassis is milled out of a single block of aluminium, so there are no joints or moving pieces at all.
The HTC One was launched last month at swanky, simultaneous events in London and New York. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 600 SoC, which has four Krait cores clocked at 1.7GHz each. The GPU is an Adreno 320 unit and there’s a healthy 2GB of RAM. The One has a 4.7-inch full HD SuperLCD3 display, the first of its kind. It has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with a density of 469 ppi, the highest we have come across yet.
Here are some of the key specifications of the HTC One:
- 4.7-inch LCD display with 1080p resolution
