HP India has partnered with theatre franchise PVR to bring about Asia's first virtual reality lounge at PVR ECX in Noida, India. There will be 10 such VR lounges across the country soon.
The idea of the VR lounges is to let movie goers experience virtual reality in one of the four VR pods that are there. The VR pods are powered by HP Omen desktops or laptops with HTC Vive headsets providing the VR experience.
According to Digit, the HP Omen machines at the VR lounge include HP Omen 870-260in which houses an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card and an HP Omen 17 W249TX and the W25TX which house the GTX 1060 and GTX 1070 GPUs respectively.
The content includes games, interactive content curated from different genres such as drama, sci-fi, horror and so on. All you need to do is buy a movie ticket for any show at the PVR ECX. Movie-goers can play around eight games as well as interface with interactive content from The Jungle Book for instance. The experience will range anywhere from 1.5 to 10 mins.
According to PVR chairman and managing director, VR is the future of entertainment and PVR has partnered with HP as it is VR-ready company. He expects VR to be a reigning trend in the entertainment industry and customers will have a great time exploring VR at the lounges.
