Running a 1.1 GHz MediaTek chipset with 1 GB of RAM, the Nokia 1 isn’t going to set anyone’s pants on fire. However, this Android-powered device could just be what the developing world needs to enter the realm of the smartphone.

Looking at the complete specifications sheet of the Nokia 1, we see that it is powered by the aforementioned, and unnamed, 1.1 GHz MediaTek chipset and that it includes 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. Given that the Nokia 8110 feature phone is powered by a 1.1 GHz Qualcomm chip, we’re certainly wondering why Nokia went with MediaTek on this device.
The rest of the specs include a 4.5-inch display (854x480) and a 5 MP rear camera.
More importantly, this phone is running Android Go, which is optimised for low-end devices exactly like the Nokia 1.
Nokia will launch the 1 globally at around $85 and will now bring back Xpress-on covers that were all the rage at one time.
The phone will be available in red and blue colour options.
