Guild Wars 2 has been confirmed for a 2012 release date by ArenaNet Founder and President, Mike O’Brien. Unfortunately he didn’t specify a month nor he did he go into specifics regarding the game’s price. Here’s what he did say, “We recently finished our first closed beta test, and we’re now ready to hold progressively larger events. In February we’ll invite select press to participate in beta testing, and in March and April we’ll aggressively ramp up the size of our beta test events so that many of you will have a chance to participate. And of course, this all leads to the release of Guild Wars 2 later this year.”
Guild Wars 2 may be an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) but unlike other MMOs on the block, it will not levy a monthly subscription fee, just like its predecessor. You’ll still have to be connected to the internet at all times but no subscription fee is a huge bonus in our opinion. If that aspect of the game has perked your interest, you could try and get into the beta that should kick off sometime this year. Stay tuned to their official blog for more details.
