Google is celebrating its 17th birthday and to commemorate the occassion it has put of a retro doodle.
The doodle is a throwback to the early days of the internet, with a retro plastic PC, a lava lamp, a Linux penguin peeking from behind the monitor, among other things. The monitor display shows the first Google homescreen when it had launched back in 1998.
Here is a pictorial list of Google's achievements in its 17 year journey.
However, some reports point out that Google is itself not sure of its birthday. It has started celebrating it on 27 September since 2006 and the year before it had celebrated it on 26 September.
The 6th birthday Doodle had gone online on 7 September 2004 and in 2003, it was put up on 8 September.
