Gigabyte recently introduced a new GUI-based way for its users to make BIOS settings on their PCs. Called the ‘Touch’ BIOS, it allows for a more familiar icon-based experience for its users. On first glance, the icons are very similar to those used on the icons on the iPhone or iPad. The whole idea is based on a hybrid version of the EFI BIOS and is definitely worth a look.
Making it simpler...
The Main Page contains all the options one would expect, but it’s been streamlined and made simpler for first time PC users to make changes in the BIOS. The Touch BIOS can be used via a mouse or a touch enabled screen if one owns it. Users can also change or remove icons, everything is very customizable.
For a better understanding, Gigabyte have a video which shows off the new BIOS as well as the reasons Gigabyte chose to create this kind of BIOS.
The ‘Touch’ BIOS can make understanding and more importantly using the BIOS a simpler task for new users as well as providing a clear and streamlined interface for hardcore PC users.
