Microsoft has just recently released the latest game in the Gears of War series, dubbed Gears of War: Judgment. If you want to try out the game before buying it, Microsoft has released a demo that lets players try out the multiplayer of the game.
The demo was released earlier for those who pre-ordered the game, but others can now pick up the 739MB download from the Xbox Live Marketplace. The demo lets players try out the OverRun mode.
If you like the demo and decide to buy the game, you won't have to earn all that XP again. The XP gets carried over to the full game, but only if you buy and play the game this week.
Try before you buy
Gears of Wars: Judgment has been developed exclusively for Microsoft Studios by Epic Games and People Can Fly. Microsoft calls the game “an adrenaline pumping prequel”, and this time around there’s a new protagonist: Damon Baird. The game also offers an expanded weapons arsenal, and there are more intense boss fights and enemies in the offing.
The game’s brand-new multiplayer experience, OverRun, is a new class-based competitive mode, which Microsoft says is unlike anything fans of the series have seen before. The company is even talking up the game's cooperative gameplay system on Xbox LIVE and as we said in our single player review of the game, that aspect of the game promises good things.
The story unveils through a series of flashbacks. It is played from the perspective of the Kilo Squad, led by tech-geek Damon Baird, as they battle ferocious new enemies with an expanded arsenal of weapons. As war rages around them, the entire Kilo Squad including the flamboyant Augustus "The Cole Train" Cole is put on trial. Gamers can experience first-hand the events that led to their court-martial as the events are recounted during the trial – how the Kilo Squad struggles to fight off the Locust horde, as they burst from the ground on Emergence Day, led by a terrifying new Locust Leader: General Karn.
The OverRun mode allows gamers to form five-player teams that take turns at pitting Locust and COG soldiers in a head-to-head battle. One can increase the difficulty level by declassifying critical information with the new Declassified Testimony system. By declassifying testimony within the course of the campaign, weapons and alternate scenarios will be unlocked and change the way enemies are fought against further along the course.
As one of the most popular franchises in Xbox history, more than 18 million Gear editions have been sold worldwide. And then there are New York Times-bestselling novels, collectibles, graphic novels and more.
Gears of War: Judgment is available for the Xbox 360 for Rs 2,999.
