Game of Thrones is an awesome show. In fact it’s so awesome I even wrote an article on why it would make a badass Role Playing Game (RPG) as opposed to an RTS (Real Time Strategy) game that was actually in development. Now it seems my prayers have been answered as developer Cyanide, the very same dudes working on the RTS game have been working on the concept of a Game of Thrones RPG all along.
Who doesn't want more Game of Thrones?
Speaking to Kotaku, Cyanide's studio director Yves Bordeleau confirmed the existence of an RPG saying it would be less action oriented than a Mass Effect, falling somewhere close to Knights of the Old Republic territory. You won’t play as any of the pivotal characters from the books or the HBO show but you will interact with them during your adventures. So far Cyanide are looking for a publisher but are targeting a 2012 release date to coincide with the new season as well.
In the meantime if the thought of a Game of Thrones RTS game intrigues you, head on over to Steam to check it out.
