Galaxy S II with Tegra 2 Might Have a Super Clear LCD Display

We reported a while ago that the Samsung Galaxy S II will have two variants, one powered by Samsung’s own Exonys SoC and one with NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 CPU at its core. What we assumed then was that Samsung was having supply problems with its own CPU and was therefore relying on the readily available Tegra 2 chipsets, and that the rest of the smartphone would remain identical.

S II with Tegra 2?

Tegra 2 with SC LCD

Well, it turns out that isn’t the case. The Galaxy S II I9103 will not only have the Tegra 2 inside it, but will also have a Super Clear LCD display in place of the Super AMOLED display. This was mentioned in an in-depth Galaxy S II preview posted over at Mobile-review, which means it’s not really official. It sure does seem plausible, though, because Samsung have shown they’re not averse to using Super Clear LCD displays to lower the price a bit, as we have seen with the Galaxy S I9003.

It’s probably a good thing if it means cheaper Tegra 2 options, no? There's still not much information available from Samsung's end though - including which regions will get what variant - and that is something we'll have to wait for.
