The Apple – HTC battle continues to rage on, and neither of the two seem to be in a mood to relent. According to a Bloomberg report, HTC has obtained as many as 9 patents, which earlier belonged to Google, and it is being increasingly believed that these patents should help HTC's patent battle against Apple. Google had acquired these nine patents close to a year back, four of which belonged to Motorola Inc., three to Openwave Systems and two to Palm Inc. Although, there hasn't been a reason as such that has been specified that explains Google's sudden move, HTC indeed finds itself in a favorable position with the nine patent gain.
This move by Google is another steps it has taken towards other handset manufacturers with Android loyalties. However, never before has it transferred its patents to an Android-running, mobile handset manufacturer.
