It’s hardly been a week since Firefox 7 and Firefox 8 beta is already ready for download. In terms of features, Firefox 7 added optimizations to the browser for better memory management. The new build will contain features such as Twitter search which will allow users to monitor trends on Twitter. There have been some cosmetic changes as well - the tab animations have been updated and add-on enhancements have been implemented. Add-ons that are installed by third party software require the user to confirm the addition. There have been additions to the HTML5 feature set too. For example, developers can add items to the right-click menu using HTML5. Performance benefits to HTML5 audio and video will also be noticed.
Firefox 8 releases this November
If you want to try the Firefox 8 beta, head over the Mozilla Firefox channel download page. Firefox 8 is slated to launch on the 8th of November this year. With the beta builds already coming out, very little is likely to change in terms of features. Most of the development from here on will be in the form of bug fixes.
