E-commerce giants Amazon and Flipkart are gearing for another price war next week

Amazon and Flipkart, the two largest e-commerce players in the market have two mega sale events lined up for this month. The sale events will give users discounts on the selling prices of the products available in the product catalog. ‘Big 10’, the sale event by Flipkart, is scheduled from 14 May to 18 May. Amazon's ‘Great India Sale’ is scheduled from 11 May until 14 May.

‘Big 10’ by Flipkart is set to mark the 10-year anniversary of the company, and it will offer up to 80 percent discounts on products and brands available in its catalog.

Both the companies want to make the most of the opportunities and lost revenue after the demonetization move by the government. Amazon will offer ‘thousands of blockbuster deals at never-seen-before prices’ as reported by The Economic Times. The companies are expected to provide additional discounts with different payment options depending on the bank, type of card or the type of payment mode, including cash backs if users use digital payment wallets.

“Since Indian consumers are discount lovers, they are obviously going to love the discounts, if they are genuine,” Dhruv Goyal, the co-founder of online craft company ExclusiveLane told ET. Myntra, the Flipkart owned fashion brand will also offer mega discounts.

The report explains that Amazon will focus on smartphones, televisions, consumer electronics, fashion and accessories. Both the companies are building their inventory for the upcoming sale and sellers have stocked four times the number of products that they would normally stock.
