The app aims at converging the movie experience into a device as compact as an iPad or iPhone. Earlier this month, Sony also introduced close to ten episodes of the popular comedy show, Seinfeld on this app. The company plans to add newer themes to the existing Seinfeld series on the app, stated a spokesperson from Sony.
Interestingly, unlike other streaming services available that ask you to cough up viewing charges, Crackle permits free viewing. However, this does come at a cost; an ad pop-up every now and then should be feasible is the condition. The catalogue, at the moment, has over 200 titles picked from Sony’s network of production companies – Columbia Pictures, Tri-Star Pictures, Screen Gems, among others. The app, in addition allows you to share content on social networks, email or video playback. This library, Sony claims, will be uploaded at regular intervals.
At the moment, Crackle app users would find TV shows like Seinfeld, Married…With Children, Samurai X, Starsky and Hutch. The movies included are - The Da Vinci Code, Snatch, Ghostbusters, and A Few Good Men.
