We saw the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) join hands with Microsoft to deploy the latter’s cloud solutions in colleges across the nation, and now the company has moved a step ahead and have launched their own job portal. Yes, you heard it right. There is some competition cropping up for popular job portals like Naukri and Monster. The portal will be loaded with the database of all the students of technical and professional institutions that are approved by AICTE, reports Deccan Herald. The database will include their academic and other details, too. This would yet another option for students seeking jobs in the technical sphere.

“The job portal is being developed to benefit the students pursuing technical and professional education in the country. We have already captured students’ semester wise results. A database of about 8000 companies from different sectors has also been created. This will be uploaded in the portal being developed,” said AICTE chairman S S Mantha.
Students will be allowed to post their resumes free of charge and the companies can also register and look for prospective employees in the students. "Using their IDs, the students can log on to the portal and post their CVs (Curriculum Vitae) and search a suitable job. Similarly employers can also log on to the portal and look for prospective employees,” said Mantha.
AICTE issues an e-mail ID to each of the students of the institutions that it has approved. While students can post their resume free of charge, there is no word if employers can do the same. Apparently, the Council has collected e-mail ids of HR departments of various companies and will upload them on the portal to assist students. This is an interesting addition to the portal, and is something one doesn’t find on the existing job portals, which are run by private companies. This clearly shows how the educational sector is vying to keep up with the Internet trend and reap benefits using it.
