Now here’s something that’ll put a smile on many faces and spread that Christmas cheer around. The demos for Mass Effect 2, Dead Space 2 and LittleBigPlanet 2 are now available for download on the Playstation Network (PSN), in what can only be described as a showering of gifts. Sequels to the Sci-fi epic Mass Effect, Survival Horror Dead Space and Platformer LittleBigPlanet, the games are expected to release on January 18, January 21 and January 19 respectively. Before that though, PS3 owners get a taste of what is on offer via these demos.
Mass Effect 2’s PS3 version boasts of upgraded graphics and various bug fixes and improvements when compared to its XBOX360 counterpart. Last week, a Bioware podcast revealed the game was running on the Mass Effect 3 engine. So for people who have played Mass Effect 2 already, the demo will serve as a decent preview for what we’re about to get later this year with Mass Effect 3.
Dead Space 2’s demo will give gamers a sneak peek at the sequel to 2009’s horrifying spaceship romp. Multiplayer is expected to feature this time round, though the demo is limited to a Single Player. This demo will allow players to explore the Church of Unitology while trying out some of the game's new features and weapons. Those include the Javelin gun, enhanced telekinesis, the new stasis recharge mechanic, and the advanced suit that allows you to move in any direction when the area you're in lacks gravity.
LittleBigPlanet was a charming platformer with some great user-created content. LBP2 now gives the user even more power, with tools that can even create 2D beat-em-ups! Oh and suffice to say, Sackboy’s back this time too.
So head on over to the Playstation Store and get downloading already.
