Meet Charge Anywhere, the application that takes advantage of the Nexus S' near field communication (NFC) to turn it into a mobile payment device. The app already exists for iPhones, Blackberries and Android devices (which don't have NFC) and along with the phones and a dedicated card reader, owners can turn their mobile devices into payment devices. However, with the latest app update, the app turns the Nexus S phone into a full payment device, which means owners can process their Mastercard PayPass or Visa Blink payments, using the phone's NFC technology.
Add a Nexus S and drop the reader
The update to the app is ready but hasn't been released yet. It will be released soon, however, and it will cost $9.99 (approx Rs. 446) per month for the full service which includes back-end payment processing, tech support and a web-based management system. It seems like the Nexus S is doing what the iPhone 5 was expected to do but all rumours of the iPhone 5 containing NFC technology have been shot down.
