Following its competitors and the long list of action cameras launched last year, Nikon finally gave in and revealed an all-new KeyMission 360 action camera at the ongoing CES 2016, in Las Vegas. The KeyMission 360 has a dual sensor setup that is similar to what Ricoh announced in 2015 with the Theta S. The 360 capture comes from two lenses on each side of the tiny cube structure with image sensors facing either side placed in between that captures and combines the video output into a single 360 perspective. The highlight is that the KeyMission is able to record 360 footage in 4K. Also included in what appears to be a tiny, flattened cube-like package is electronic Vibration Reduction, or VR as Nikon calls it. The EVR helps reduce jitters in videos which is essential when it comes to action cameras as they are expected to be mounted on anything from mountain bikes to drones. Included in the package is also Bluetooth, NFC and Wi-Fi for connectivity and transfers. Talking about mounting, Nikon has also announced a couple of mounts that were on display at CES. For now, the pricing has not been revealed, but since it meant to compete with GoPro’s lineup, expect it to be priced similarly. In the past year, camera makers have begun to introduce action cameras to the market. Sony announced something similar this year at CES, while Panasonic launched its HX-A1 (Rs 19,900) and Ricoh's Theta S (Rs Rs 35,995) that were launched in 2015. So Nikon is indeed a bit too late to the party. Nikon also launched a couple of new lightweight Nikkor lenses and more importantly, a refreshed range of professional DSLR models with the Nikon D5 flagship and D500.
