CES 2012: LG to announce 9.1 channel 3D sound home theatre system

LG recently announced that at the Consumer Electronics Show 2012 in Las Vegas they will introduce four new home theatre systems. These systems feature LG’s latest 3D sound technology and the first that will be unveiled at the event is the BH9420PW that is scheduled to be launched during the first half of 2012.

The BH9420PW home theatre system uses LG’s D Sound Zooming technology, which synchronizes sound output with the location and movement of the on-screen 3D images on a CINEMA 3D Smart TV. LG states, “3D Sound Zooming is capable of generating a variety of depth in sound based on a complex algorithm that analyzes the varying depth of numerous on-screen objects displayed on the 3D TV.

The BH9420PW home theatre system uses a 9.1 speaker system that adds four Upright 3D speakers to the 5.1 channels of a regular home theater system. These four upright 3D speakers output the sound upwards thereby ensuring that the vertical space is completely filled with sound. There is also a 360-degree reflector inside each of these upright 3D speakers that reflect sound in all directions and LG claims that they create sounds as rich as those in a concert hall.

To provide viewers with a range of 3D experiences, the BH9420PW is equipped with Smart TV functionalities as well, allowing any 3D TV to access LG’s Smart TV ecosystem. The announcement ends with LG stating that the BH9420PW will be available for purchase in March 2012.
