Research In Motion (RIM) today announced that its 7-inch, QNX-based tablet will be getting Video Chat capabilities as well as a Facebook app.

Tom Goguen, VP, Collaboration and Social Networking at Research In Motion in a statement said “With the BlackBerry PlayBook Video Chat application we are excited to be enabling our customers to share important moments and events with family and friends via video calls. With the BlackBerry PlayBook's high-resolution video cameras and stunning display, a Video Chat call is the next best thing to being there”.
Features include One-Click Video and Voice over Wi-Fi Calls which allows calls from their Video Chat contact list, log of recent calls by simply by entering the BBID email address of the person they want to call. Others features are Incoming Call Notifications, In-Call Functions and Friends List.
The Facebook app will work in as it does on any regular computer and contains all the features one would expect. It contains Facebook chat, ability to view photos and video seamlessly as well as the ability to view and add friends.
While there is no set date for the Facebook app, it is set to be showcased at BlackBerry World 2011.
