Asus R558UQ is the new mainstream laptop with 7th gen Intel Kaby Lake; starts from Rs 48,990

Updating its mainstream line-up, Taiwan-based tech major Asus on Tuesday unveiled a notebook that comes with 7th Gen Intel processor for the Indian consumers.

Asus R558UQ is a substantially upgraded variant of the R558UR premium notebook and comes in two models - one with Core i7 processor and priced at Rs 59,990 and the other with Core i5 processor which is priced at Rs 48,990.

"The demand for the mainstream notebooks has been steadily increasing over the years and hence this segment will be one of our key focus areas this year," said Peter Chang, regional head, South Asia and country manager, System Business Group, Asus India.

The Asus R558UQ sports a 15.6-inch LED back-lit, full-HD display. The high end notebook comes with an Intel Core i7 7500U processor which is clocked at 2.7GHz. It can support up to 16GB of RAM, but comes with 8GB DDR4 RAM installed. There is a 1TB HDD.

The Asus R558UQ with the Intel Core i5 7200U model can support upto 12GB RAM but comes with 4GB DDR4 installed RAM. It also comes with a 1TB HDD.

Both the models pack USB Type C connectivity, Nvidia GeForce 940MX (N16S-GTR) graphics, VGA web camera, keyboard coupled with Asus Smart Gesture and Asus Splendid software. In terms of ports, you get 1x USB 2.0, 1x USB 3.0 and 1x USB Type C, 1x VGA port, 1x LAN port among others.

The Asus R558UQ will be available across all leading online and offline retail outlets from 9 January onwards. The R558UQ i7 model is available in Glossy Dark Brown IMR and the i5 model is available in Matt Golden, Glossy Dark Brown, Red and Dark Blue hues.
