Whoops, it looks like ASUS let slip a bit more information than they wanted to. New details on AMD’s Bulldozer processors were put up on a BIOS evaluation chart for the new 990FX range of motherboards.
Will it beat its rivals?
We already know that the Bulldozer chips will be built using 32nm technology and will ship in both 6-core and eight-core flavours. We also know what they will be priced at. But due to the leak, we now know that the chips will release under the ‘Scorpious’ Platform and will have the AMD ‘Vision Black’ moniker on it
The fastest 8-core CPU, the FX-8130P runs at 3.8GHz with the ability to overclock to 4.2GHz on turbo and a TDP of 125w, the slightly slower FX-8110 is clocked at 3.6GHz and 4.0GHz with turbo engaged. The TDP rating on the FX-8110 is 95W.
On the hex-core side, there is no word (leaked or official) on the clocks, but we can tell you that the FX-6110 and the quad-core FX-4110 both have a TDP rating of 95W. The new CPUs are set to challenge Intel for the CPU crown with very aggressive pricing. All that is left to see is how they perform when compared to their higher priced cousins.
