The last massive board from ASUS, based on the LGA1366 platform running the Intel X58 chipset was the Rampage III Extreme. It was one of the well known enthusiast level boards in the market. This new Black Edition board is priced at a hefty Rs. 39,500. The Rampage III Black Edition like the older board supports CrossFire and SLI on its many PCI Express slots. The same level of overclocking potential is present in this board - memory speeds of upto 2200 MHz are supported.
Probably the most expensive desktop board around
One of the cool new features of the board is the bundled add-on card which integrated an audio card along with the network adapter. This new card is called the Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt uses the Killer NIC’s chip for the network connectivity. The audio component of the chip uses the Xonar APU and also a headphone amplifier that is powered by Texas Instruments components. The board also supports USB 3.0 functionality, which should help in high-speed transfers to external devices.
