Asus launches Vivobook S featuring Dell XPS 13-rivalling NanoEdge display with a screen-to-body ratio of 80%

Asus, known mainly for developing gaming laptops and extremely powerful PC's , has come out with a new laptop called the Vivobook S. Asus has put in some decent hardware in this latest release as the Vivobook S is powered by seventh-generation Intel Core i7-7500U processor and 8 GB of DDR4 RAM. The hardware also includes a 128 GB of Solid state drive (SSD) and 1 TB HDD storage as well.

However, the most jaw dropping feature of the Vivobook S is the NanoEdge display provided by the company, which provides a near bezel-less display with a screen-to-body ratio to the tune of 80 percent. This means that the Asus has managed to fit a full-size 15.6-inch display into a 14-inch laptop frame. The stellar Dell XPS 13 manages the same.

The Vivobook has thickness of just 0.7 inches and weighs around 1.7 kg which is nearly the same as the MacBook Air. The new MacBook Pro is lighter at 1.37 kg, however. The Vivobook S measures 14.2×9.6×0.7-inches and comes with a 42 WHrs rating and a 3-cell Li-ion battery which Asus claims can be charged up to 60 percent of its capacity in under 50 minutes. The laptop also includes a fingerprint sensor, USB 3.1 Type-C (Gen 1), USB 3.0, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and HDMI.

The starting price for the laptop is around $699 is available for purchase from Asus' own online store or through third-party retailers like Newegg in the United States.
